Father’s Day Finds!

Breakfast sorted with Bakers Delight
Crème Brûlée French Toast

Golden, caramelised & custardy to the core… breakfast just got fancy! Perfect for spoiling Dad with a café-style breakfast at home.

Ingredients:

For the Brûlée Custard:

  • 4 egg yolks

  • ¾ cup brown sugar

  • 1 tbsp corn flour

  • 1 tsp vanilla essence

  • 1 ¼ cups full cream milk

  • 1.5 tbsp butter

French Toast:

  • 2 eggs

  • 1 tsp vanilla essence

  • ¼ cup full cream milk

  • 1 tbsp cinnamon sugar

  • 4 slices Bakers Delight White Block Loaf

Method:

  1. Make the custard: In a saucepan, whisk together egg yolks, brown sugar, corn flour, vanilla essence, and milk until fully combined.

  2. Place the saucepan on medium heat and whisk constantly for 10–15 minutes, until the custard thickens.

  3. Remove from heat and whisk in butter. Refrigerate for 10–15 minutes to thicken further.

  4. Prepare French toast: Whisk together eggs, vanilla, milk, and cinnamon sugar. Dip each slice of bread in the mixture.

  5. Melt butter in a pan and cook French toast on each side until golden brown.

  6. Spread or pipe the cooled custard on top of the toast. Sprinkle 1 tbsp sugar on each slice.

  7. Use a blow torch to caramelise the sugar until golden brown. Wait 2–3 minutes for sugar to harden, then enjoy!
